How do I become a CIT?
Counselor in Training -
In our 21 years of operation we have had the pleasure of seeing many of our campers become full-fledged crew. We receive many requests to become a C.I.T. (counselor in training). While we really want to say "Yes" to all requests, we just can't because of space limitations onboard the Erica Lee II.
We are accepting requests for CIT's for 2010, and here is what you need to know:
We require our CIT's to be at least 14 years old and to have participated in Coastal Discoveries for at least 3 years. We do look at many
things in choosing CIT's: You need to do well in school, show leadership abilities, have respect and learn how to work well with other crew
members and Captain Bob. Working on a boat requires many different skills from deckhand to handling bait and fish and sharing
knowledge with the kids in the camp. Your level of maturity and awareness of what is going on around you needs to be high as well. The
safety of our crew and the kids that participate in our camp comes first with us and needs to be first with anyone who works with us.
We also require at least one teacher reference.
So, sharpen your skills, submit a resume to us early in the spring along with at least one teacher recommendation. You can either mail the resume to Lee Yeomans, 55 Hay Street, Newbury, MA 01951 or send it via e-mail to: leeyeomans@comcast.net
