Return application with $200 deposit per child, per week, payable to Coastal Discoveries, 55 Hay Street, Newbury, MA 01951. (Include t-shirt payment if interested.) The balance for any and all weeks is due on the first day of camp.
We cannot encourage you enough to return your application and deposit as soon as you select the week you'd like to join us. We can only take 24 campers aboard the Erica Lee II, each week. Many weeks (especially those in July) fill very fast.
Coastal Discoveries will run Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. We make the most of changeable weather conditions, and spend as much time aboard the Erica Lee II as possible. However, in the event of unexpected mechanical failure or inappropriate sea conditions, some day's adventures will be exchanged for land-based field trips or excursions aboard other passenger boats. These trips may include a visit to the Peabody Essex Museum, New England Aquarium, or fishing aboard one of Plum Island's Captain's Lady boats. Please understand we work very hard to make the most of every day, regardless of any unexpected challenges.
The Erica Lee II is docked at The Black Cow Restaurant in downtown Newburyport. Our staff will be on the boat to greet you by 8:00 a.m.
You Should Bring The Following:
1. Bathing suit and towel every day.
2. Wear non-skid boat shoes, sneakers (no black soles, please), or sandals such as Tevas.
3. Sunglasses & Sunscreen. (We remind campers to reapply sunscreen several times throughout the day.)
4. Lunch and three drinks—water is the best—each day. (On Friday we will supply lunch. Only a snack and beverages are necessary.)
5. Dress in layers. Remember it is usually about 10 degrees cooler on the water.
6. Camera. Disposable underwater cameras are perfect.
7. If you are inclined to be seasick, please take necessary precautions before leaving home. Plenty of rest the night before, a high-protein, low-fat breakfast and warm clothing help in preventing sea sickness. If you need to take medication for motion sickness, check first with your family physician. You may also want to talk to your pharmacist about some over-the-counter medications available.
8. Bring appropriate clothing to suit weather prediction for day, including rain gear.
9. PLEASE put your name on any and all items brought aboard the Erica Lee II.
We're looking forward to seeing you!
